Purchase of scrap iron & non-ferrous metals

Purchase of scrap iron & non-ferrous metals

Scrap and non-ferrous metals are not the same as waste. When separated, inspected and prepared, ‘waste’ becomes a valuable secondary raw material. Schrott-Waltner has the experience and expertise to process and recycle all ferrous and non-ferrous scrap metal to a high standard of quality. At the two Graz sites Bahnhofgürtel and Raiffeisenstraße, the scrap metal is first weighed, checked in accordance with the high safety regulations and sorted into 298 different types (various types of iron and non-ferrous metal scrap, car wrecks, etc.) based on the quality assessment. Until the scrap is processed, it is stored in the appropriate intermediate storage facilities, quality-checked again after the final sorting and production process, and then weighed and charged for dispatch.

Absolute Safety

Precise records are kept of every delivery, and, as a standard practice, legally compliant documentation and verification for each customer’s waste reporting are provided. In addition to the normal quality inspection, all scrap is routinely checked for closed hollow and explosive bodies and for even slightly increased radioactivity of natural origin (e.g. concentrated nuclides from lime deposits on pipes) or of artificial origin (e.g. certain registered fire alarms that are not allowed in scrap).

Sound expertise

The determination of the alloy is carried out using an analyser. Recyclable materials are therefore adequately remunerated and marketed in a targeted manner. The quality of the charges – which are often sorted by hand – is correspondingly high.

High quality of service

Our own fleet of vehicles, with a large pool of skips and containers, ensures that waste is processed quickly, easily and cleanly at the point of collection. The customer-oriented approach and expertise of the entire Schrott-Waltner team guarantee customised solutions.

Attractive remuneration

The weight of scrap and old metal is determined using calibrated weighbridges and metal scales. Invoicing and material remuneration can be based on current market prices or on a fixed price guarantee agreed in advance – according to the customer’s individual wishes, by cash payment, crossed cheque or prompt bank transfer.
